As a female motorcycle enthusiast, I am always searching for new and interesting reading material related to riding and the lifestyle. Although the number of female riders has nearly doubled in the last decade, most biker magazines are geared at the male rider. Now don't get me wrong, motorcycling is a way of life and both male and female riders can gain from reading the majority of material in print. What I enjoy reading about is new protective gear, pink helmets and clubs strictly for the girls. For that I look on the web.
Quickthrottle.com is a sweet site. It is one of the only motorcycle magazines that allow you to read all of their issues online for free. Quick Throttle is a family oriented site and publication. Not only do they cover national news and events but they are dedicated to covering local stories, plugging local businesses and vendors and sharing news about local fund raising events that the whole family can enjoy being a part of. It is a great resource for upcoming rallies and runs.
There are two websites that are geared at females that I truly enjoy visiting, V Twin Mama and Lady Biker Stuff. V Twin Mama is full of great information for and by female riders. They cover reviews on bikes as well as riding gear and have a section to guide women in doing their own repairs and maintenance. They also have lots of great links and stories that only women would enjoy reading, you know, romance, reflections and true confessions. When it comes to shopping for my riding excursions, Lady Biker Stuff is where I spend my money. They have a large selection of riding gear as well as fun stuff like decals and books about women riders and my favorite section, the pink leather collection.
I do love to have a coffee table full of biker magazines to flip through when I want to but I find most of my interesting and enjoyable rider material on the web.
